Welcome Message from the President
WELCOME TO FSSGIANS UK & IRELAND WEBSITE
As the President of FSSGIans UK & Ireland, I would like to welcome all fellow FSSGians, friends, families, Patrons and well-wishers to our website. It is a privilege for me to serve in this capacity and to give back to my Alma mater. I say thanks to FSSGians UK for your support and trust in my humble self.
FSSGians across the globe have been entrusted with the responsibility to give back in diverse ways to ensure that FSSG continues to educate, empower and motivate young and upcoming FSSGIans to become outstanding ambassadors for the future. We seek to improve the facilities for a better learning environment and to create better opportunities for all young girls who go through the Freetown Secondary School for Girls.
I am appealing to all FSSGians to connect with your local alumni organisations and support our school. The school needs us to regain its former glory.
In 2026, the school will be celebrating it’s CENTENARY, so come onboard to “PLAY THE GAME”.
To meet this mandate, FSSGians UK & Ireland continue to fundraise by way of Thanksgiving Service, Luncheon Sale, and Africana Buffet Dinner Dance. In 2021, in collaboration with our sister branches in the diaspora and home, we celebrated the 95th Anniversary of our school. We held a virtual Global Gala and a virtual Global Thanksgiving Service and all proceeds went towards the development of the school in Freetown.
In 2021, FSSGians UK & Ireland together with our sister branches supported the school to successfully transition into a single shift. We worked in collaboration with the Board of Trustees and Board of Governors to provide the school with furniture, built a new lunch stall, erected water tanks, improved the environments for the girls and raised the perimeter fence for enhanced security.
Currently, we are embarking on a new project which is to renovate and equip the Home Economics department. This will be completed in two phases. Firstly, the completion of the Foods & Nutrition Room and then the Clothing & Textiles Room.
Unfortunately, the roof is in disrepair and the damage has to be put right before the renovation work can be done. This is a project on its own, for which we rely on your continued support.
We will appreciate any help and may God continue to richly bless you all. Please make donations to the Accounts below:
Once again I say Thank You to you all for your support.
Let us continue to “PLAY THE GAME”.
